The SecureDrive DUO: Uncompromised Security
Security works only if it’s properly configured, managed, and used. The DUO includes the most effective features of our KP and BT lines, but it doesn’t stop there. The DUO combines improved user convenience, enhanced administrative setup and deployment, and the most comprehensive drive management system available (for Remotely Managed drives only). We’ve made military-grade encryption easy to use by creating a device that you can securely access and control with the convenience of your smartphone.
Secure®Drive DUO comes Remote Management (RM)-ready. This subscription service gives an Admin centralized control over access to any SecureDrive® DUO device from anywhere in the world. DUO access can be limited to a specific time or location. Admins can remotely unlock drives, reset passwords, remotely wipe or disable access. They can also track multiple drives on one user or admin account. They can even enable Super ADMIN mode to add or delete other Admin users. All these features are accessed software-free through a web portal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do my data or encryption key get passed over Bluetooth signal?
No. Bluetooth is used to establish an encrypted one-time use communication channel. Neither your data nor the encryption key are ever communicated over Bluetooth and the entire communication used to unlock the drive and no data can be extracted by any side channel attacks or Bluetooth listener.
How do I unlock/lock the drive?
The DUO may be unlocked via the KeyPad or using the SecureData Lock® mobile app. After installing it you will be able to pair and unlock your device.
Once you have successfully logged in you will be able to change user settings and swipe left on the device name to lock it. Once the device is locked you must log in again to mount the drive.
Where do I get the app?
The SecureData Lock® apps are available to download via the Apple App or Google Play Stores. Type “SecureData Lock” in the search field to find and install the apps on these mobile devices.
Can I use my Face ID or Touch ID to unlock my device?
Yes. Using the SecureData Lock® app you can select to authenticate via Touch ID or Face ID.
If I forget my password, does anyone have a copy or can I reset it?
Best practices for security mandate that there be absolutely no backdoors nor resets. If “password recovery” is enabled the password can be resent to the end user.
Note: After 10 consecutive, incorrect attempts the anti-hacking, brute-force self-defense mechanism wipes all user data and drive attributes.
If I reset my drive can I still use it or is it destroyed?
The drive will revert to factory settings, become unformatted and all user data will be gone. Drive will revert to a default name after reset. The drive requires formatting for continued use.
If I reset my drive can SecureData get my files back?
No. Resetting the drive activates a crypto erase command which deletes then regenerates the encryption key. Once the key is gone there is absolutely no way to get it back. Even though encrypted data will be on the drive, there will not be a viable way to decrypt it.
If I lost my drive, can I reset it remotely to delete my data?
Yes, that’s what “remote wipe” is about. If it’s a stand-alone device without a Remote Management subscription, then the user can perform a remote wipe.
Can I add Remote Management later?
Yes. SecureDrive DUO allows adding Remote Management to complement and enhance your purchase. You can switch from SecureData Lock® (non-remote managed) to SecureData Lock® RM (remote managed) status without installing any software – the device will need to be provisioned using the SecureData Lock® Admin app. Note: the process of provisioning your drive clears all data stored on the drive.
Do I need an internet connection or a cell signal to use the DUO Drive app?
The DUO can be unlocked two ways: via the KeyPad or using the the SecureData Lock® application. While using the SecureData Lock® app you do not need to be connected to the internet or have a cell signal in order to unlock the drive. However, some settings require an internet connection or cell phone signal, including dual-factor authentication, password recovery, and remote wipe. Alternatively, the KeyPad will allow you access to open the drive.
Please Note: if your device is remote managed you must unlock it via the SecureData Lock® Managed app which requires an internet connection or cell service to “call home” and verify permissions. Managed drives can allow the users to allow un-verified access a limited number of times.
